Blank Noise Wants Bangalore’s ›Rapist Lane‹ Safe

A community called Blank Noise has mounted a variety of actions against sexual violence in India. They went to Bangalore, sat at the tables with male and female volunteers and talked about street sexual harassment. They call this method “Talk to Me”. The experiment began with five tables and two chairs, which they had staged in various locations. Volunteers both male and female, sat at the tables and invited complete strangers to stop and talk with them.

India faces many cases of sexual violence. Last December an 23-year-old woman was brutally raped. She died two weeks later…

“Our objective was to make the Rapist Lane, now the Safest Lane,” writes Jasmeen Patheja, Blank Noise’s founder.
