Malala Yousafzai Nominated for Sakharov Prize

Malala Yousafzai was announced as one of the finalists for the 2013 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. She is a 16 year-old girl who has been fighting for women’s education in Pakistan’s Swat Valley. Despite her age, in October 2012  the Taliban regime tried to kill her. Since then she became a symbol of the fight.
