Neighbors Against Crime

George Lakey moved to suburb in Philadelphia. In that time the place was full of crime and racial aggression. No one could guarantee people’s protection, neither Police, so neighbors took the initiative and the Block Association of West Philadelphia was formed. People were helping each other to be safe in the streets. Police began to report declining crime rates. The Block Association of West Philadelphia grew, and the neighborhood finally stabilized as a community that could tolerate racial differences.
